The American Nightmare did not waste any time in attacking The Beast Incarnate before the bell rang, using chairs, steel steps, and anything else he could find to inflict damage on his larger opponent. Lesnar fought back with his trademark suplexes and power moves, but Rhodes showed incredible resilience and determination to keep fighting.
The match reached a climactic moment when Rhodes hit Lesnar with a Diamond Cutter out of nowhere, followed by two consecutive Cross Rhodes. Lesnar kicked out at two and a half, shocking the Puerto Rican crowd. He then lifted Rhodes up for an F5, but Rhodes also kicked out at the last second.
Brock Lesnar locked in his Kimura Lock submission, hoping to make Rhodes tap out or pass out. However, Rhodes reversed the hold into a roll-up pin and caught Lesnar off guard for the three count. The Coliseo de Puerto Rico erupted in cheers as Rhodes celebrated his biggest victory in WWE.

Cody Rhodes proved that he is not afraid of anyone in WWE, and that he can overcome any odds. He also avenged his loss to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 39, where Lesnar interfered and cost him the undisputed WWE universal championship. Rhodes has now earned himself another shot at Reigns and the title, while Lesnar has to deal with his first loss since returning to WWE.
