In a recent episode of WWE SmackDown, Cody Rhodes had a one-on-one conversation with his WrestleMania opponent, Roman Reigns. You can watch full video segment below.
Cody started by saying that he was not there to invade or engage in reckless negotiations, but rather to have a conversation.
He requested Reigns to send away his compatriots as he wanted to talk man-to-man.
Reigns then asked Paul Heyman to leave, and the two wrestlers sat down to talk. Reigns put his titles on the ring floor and asked Cody what he wanted to talk about. Cody praised Reigns for his 915-day reign as the WWE Undisputed Universal champion and how he had superseded hyperbole to become a legend.
Cody then spoke about his accomplishments, despite the ever-moving goalposts. He said that Roman Reigns might be impossible for everybody else, but not for him. Reigns acknowledged Cody’s skill and then switched gears to talk about his accomplishments.
Reigns asked Cody if he had ever won the WWE title, competed for a title, or been in the main event of WrestleMania. Reigns declared himself the most experienced main eventer of all time, groomed since childhood by his father and Cody’s father.
Reigns went on to praise Cody’s father for the confidence he instilled in him, saying that he had put the confidence in Reigns that he had “it.” Reigns then mentioned that Dusty Rhodes never talked about Cody to him and that he had never heard his name from his father.
Cody was shocked to hear this and acknowledged that he was not on the same field as Reigns. He said that Reigns was the son that his father always wanted and that this changed everything. Cody now saw his WrestleMania match with Reigns as a necessity, and he vowed to win.
The segment between Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns was intense and emotional. The two superstars discussed their accomplishments and their fathers, and Cody expressed his determination to beat Reigns at WrestleMania. The conversation was a glimpse into the intense rivalry between the two wrestlers.
