The WWE Universe is still buzzing from the bombshell main event segment on last night’s SmackDown (March 8, 2024). Tensions between The Bloodline, Cody Rhodes, and Seth Rollins reached a fever pitch, culminating in a confrontation that has fans on the edge of their seats for WrestleMania 40. The Search for Seth and Cody
The show kicked off with a sense of urgency. Backstage, Nick Aldis, now clearly in a position of authority, scolded a pair of guards. We quickly learned that Seth Rollins and Cody Rhodes were nowhere to be found. Aldis and the guards set off on a frantic search – a sign that things would get very interesting.
The Bloodline and The Great One
The Bloodline made their grand entrance, the ever-dominant Roman Reigns leading the charge. But then, the unthinkable: the lights went out, and when they came back on, The Rock stood alongside them! The crowd was stunned as Roman and The Rock shook hands, and then Reigns uttered the words that would change everything: “Acknowledge us.”
Suddenly, Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins emerged from the crowd! The arena erupted, and we knew this SmackDown main event was going to be unlike anything we’d seen before.
Words of War
With the other members of The Bloodline cleared from the ring, it was down to Roman Reigns, The Rock, Cody Rhodes, and Seth Rollins. The crowd chanted for Cody and Seth, clearly indicating who they saw as the heroes in this story.
Cody addressed The Rock, questioning Roman’s leadership and pointing out the ridiculous stipulation The Rock had set. The Great One shot back, telling Cody to shut up and claiming his actions were the best for his family. He then offered Cody a path to destiny: beat him and Roman at WrestleMania and have an uncontested shot at the title.
The palpable tension was interrupted by the always outspoken Seth Rollins, who stepped up and accepted The Rock’s challenge on behalf of himself and Cody. The Rock, in turn, vowed to use his boardroom power to keep the two challengers away from any championship gold.
A Slap and a Stare-down
As if things weren’t heated enough, The Rock looked directly at Cody, calling him “a mistake.” In a shocking twist, Cody Rhodes slapped The People’s Champ! The show went off the air with the four men staring each other down, the energy crackling throughout the arena and in homes across the world.
