The WWE Universe witnessed a tense confrontation between Roman Reigns and Randy Orton on the December 15 episode of SmackDown. The two superstars exchanged heated words and challenged each other for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble.
Roman Reigns declared who is next Tribal Chief
The show opened with Roman Reigns and The Bloodline coming out to the ring. Reigns praised his cousin Solo Sikoa for his loyalty and dedication to the family. He called him the next tribal heir and the next tribal chief. He also asked Jimmy Uso to join him in congratulating Solo.
Reigns then addressed the crowd and said that he was a good boss and a fair leader. He said that he was here to celebrate the holiday season and the promotion season. He said that he rewarded those who did good and smashed those who did bad.
The Viper Strikes Back
However, Reigns’ celebration was cut short by the arrival of Randy Orton. The Viper made his way to the ring and confronted Reigns. He said that he had been thinking about this moment for 18 months, ever since Reigns and The Bloodline put him out of action.
Orton said that he was coming for Reigns and that he would take everything away from him. He said that he didn’t care which one of his family members he had to go through to get the job done. He then challenged Reigns for the WWE Championship at the Royal Rumble.
The Tribal Chief Rejects The Challenge
Reigns responded by saying that he hadn’t thought about Orton at all. He said that Orton hadn’t done anything to earn this opportunity and that he didn’t deserve it. He told Orton to go to the back of the line where he belonged.
Reigns then mocked Orton for listening to the voices in his head. He said that those voices were telling him to get out of the ring, run, and leave him alone. He said that if Orton had a match with him, it would be his retirement and that he would never come back.
The Legend Killer Stands His Ground
Orton then admitted that Reigns had changed for the better and that he had evolved. He said that Reigns was no longer just a historical champion, but a legend. However, he also said that he had changed and evolved. He said that he was still a legend killer.
Orton then claimed that the voices in his head told him that Reigns had just crapped his pants. He said that there is one more thing “Daddy is Back”. Orton tried to RKO Reigns but Roman somehow saved himself.
What’s Next?
The confrontation between Reigns and Orton set the stage for a possible WWE Championship match at the Royal Rumble. However, it remains to be seen if Orton will have to earn his shot.
