The WWE Universe witnessed a thrilling and shocking segment on the main event of SmackDown on January 2, 2024. Roman Reigns, the Universal Champion, came out to the ring after his victory at the Royal Rumble 2024. He taunted Seth Rollins, who claimed to be the guy and the workhorse champion on Raw last week. Reigns said he works less than Rollins but makes more money than him. He also said that a working champion does not get injured and walks limping. He challenged Cody Rhodes, the winner of the Royal Rumble match, to choose him as his WrestleMania opponent.
Cody Rhodes, the son of the legendary Dusty Rhodes, responded to Reigns’ challenge and made his way to the ring. He said that he took a lot of advice from his friends, family, and legends. He accused Reigns of cheating him in their previous encounter, where he had him on the verge of defeat. He said that he still wants the Universal Championship, which has a rich history and prestige. He asked Reigns what was finishing the story: taking the title from him or taking everything from him. He made it clear that he wants both the title and everything that Reigns claims to own. He said that he is coming for Reigns, but not at WrestleMania.
He then dropped a bombshell and revealed that one of the people he consulted was none other than The Rock, Reigns’ cousin and the most electrifying man in entertainment. The Rock’s music hit and the crowd went wild as he appeared on the stage. He hugged Rhodes and then walked towards the ring, where Reigns was waiting for him. The two stared each other down as SmackDown went off the air, leaving the fans in suspense and anticipation for what would happen next.
