 What Happened during main event of WWE Elimination Chamber 2023 between Roman Reigns & Sami Zayn

Roman Reigns defeats Sami Zayn in the main event of the Premium Live Event in Quebec, Canada to retains the Undisputed Universal Championship at WWE Elimination Chamber.

  During the main event of show After several minutes of tension around an audience that cheered for Sami, The Tribal Chief took the first offensive attempts in his favor.  Sami made up ground by throwing his opponent out of the ring and landing a few punches to his face.

 However, Reigns managed to get up for an overhead punch.  After facing the family of his rival, Romam went down with a Clothesline that left him briefly at a disadvantage.  Sami landed several punches before launching the Tribal Chief with a Powerbomb from the corner.  After two exploders on the corners, Sami landed his version of the Superman Punch and a first Helluva Kick.  The referee fell by accident and failed to see the challenger’s second kick.  To the surprise of the public, Jimmy appeared to defend his partner from The Bloodline.

 Miraculously, Sami rose from this trap and from his rival’s first Spear.  The second referee present on the scene was also knocked out, and both fighters were left against the canvas.  Jey Uso acted as an intermediary between Reigns and Zayn.  But to the surprise of those present, the fighter received an accidental Spear from Sami and left the latter serving Reigns for several blows.  One last Spear allowed the count of three in favor of Reigns.

 In this way, Roman Reigns retains the Unified WWE Universal Championship in his fifth starting defense.  The Tribal Chief maintains a reign of 902 days and 27 defenses with the Universal title since Payback 2020, to which he added the WWE Championship 314 days ago at WrestleMania 38 (Night 2).  Reigns defeated Brock Lesnar on April 3, 2022 in Dallas, Texas to obtain this last title and unify both belts.
