Backstage report on How WrestleMania 39 Plans Changed

WrestleMania 39 was one of the biggest wrestling events of the year, with two nights of action-packed matches and surprises. But did you know that some of the creative decisions and ideas that were planned for the show changed significantly before it happened?

According to Wrestle Votes, a source told them that some of the plans that were made before WrestleMania 39 did not go the way some envisioned. They said that the direction for some superstars was far different than what had been internally discussed. They did not say if the changes were for better or worse, just different.

“Interesting tidbit: a source says a number of creative decisions and ideas planned before WrestleMania have not gone the way some envisioned. Not to say for better or worse, but the direction for some superstars is far different than what had been internally discussed.”

So what were some of the plans that changed? Well, we don’t know for sure, but we can speculate based on some of the matches and outcomes that we saw at WrestleMania 39. Here are some possible examples:

Roman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes: This was the main event for Night 2, where Reigns defended his Undisputed WWE Universal Championship against Rhodes, who won the Royal Rumble match earlier in the year. Reigns retained his title after a brutal match that lasted over 30 minutes. But maybe this was not the original plan. Maybe Rhodes was supposed to win the title and end Reigns’ dominant reign. Maybe Reigns was supposed to take a break after WrestleMania or turn face and feud with someone else. We don’t know for sure, but maybe this match had a different outcome in mind.

Seth “Freakin” Rollins vs Logan Paul: Rollins won the match after hitting Paul with a curb stomp. But maybe this was not the original plan. Maybe Paul was supposed to win the match and shock the world. Maybe Rollins was supposed to lose. Maybe Paul was supposed to have more involvement from his brother Jake Paul or other celebrities. We don’t know for sure, but maybe this match had a different story in mind.

Rhea Ripley vs Charlotte Flair: This was one of the most anticipated matches of WrestleMania 39, where Ripley challenged Flair for the SmackDown Women’s Championship. Ripley won the match after hitting Flair with a riptide and pinning her clean in the middle of the ring. But maybe this was not the original plan. Maybe Flair was supposed to retain her title and continue her reign of terror. We don’t know for sure, but maybe this match had a different ending in mind.

These are just some of the possible plans that changed. Of course, we can never know for sure what WWE’s writers and producers had planned for WrestleMania 39, but it’s fun to imagine what could have been. What do you think?
