Brock Lesnar made an unexpected return to Friday Night SmackDown last night to confront Roman Reigns. The Beast Incarnate challenged The Tribal Chief to a match for the WWE Unified World Championship at SummerSlam.

Roman Reigns will defend the Unified Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar at WWE SummerSlam 2022.


Now more details have been revealed about Lesnar’s return to the McMahon company after more than two months of absence.

According to Fightful Select, the two are ready for the main event of WWE Summerslam, which was not the original plan.

As reported this week, Randy Orton is likely to have surgery that will prevent him from appearing on television for the remainder of the year. The wrestler was originally planned to be Reigns’ opponent at SummerSlam.

However, once it became clear that Randy Orton wouldn’t be able to perform any time soon, the plan was put into motion for Brock Lesnar to return to the company.


During the evening before the SmackDown show, shortly before 5 PM EST, talk began that Lesnar might return. However, it did not appear on the internal rundowns that were handed out just before the show between the writers and producers.
