WWE fans were in for a huge surprise on Monday Night RAW when Triple H, the talent director and WWE Hall of Famer, made a game-changing announcement. He revealed that WWE has created a new World Heavyweight Championship, which will be defended anytime, anyplace and all over the world.

But why did WWE need a new world title? Well, according to Triple H, it was because of Roman Reigns, the current Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, who has been holding both the WWE Championship and the Universal Championship since WrestleMania 37. Reigns has been dominating both brands with his part-time contract, which allows him to defend his titles only when he wants to.

Triple H said that this was unfair to the fans and the other superstars who deserve a champion who shows up every week and puts his title on the line. Therefore, WWE has decided to leave Reigns as the final owner of the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, officially unifying the two top titles in the company. However, this also means that whichever brand Reigns gets drafted to in the upcoming WWE Draft will have the exclusive rights to his title, while the other brand will be left without a world champion.

That’s where the new World Heavyweight Championship comes in. Triple H announced that on Saturday, May 27, at Night of Champions 2023 in Saudi Arabia, WWE will crown a new World Heavyweight Champion in a historic match. The details of the match and the participants have not been revealed yet, but we can expect some of the top superstars from both brands to compete for this prestigious prize.

Who will be the first ever WWE World Heavyweight Champion? Will it be someone from RAW or SmackDown? Will it be a veteran or a newcomer? Will it be a face or a heel? The possibilities are endless, and we can’t wait to find out.

The new title is a tribute to the legendary World Heavyweight Championship that was active from 2002 to 2013, and was held by some of the greatest wrestlers of all time, such as The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Edge, Batista and Triple H himself. The new belt has a similar design to the iconic “Big Gold Belt” that was synonymous with the World Heavyweight Championship.

Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development in WWE, and don’t miss Night of Champions 2023 on May 27, only on Peacock and WWE Network.
