AEW President Tony Khan had a tense history with CM Punk, the former WWE superstar who left the company in 2014. Khan fired Punk from AEW after a backstage incident during the AEW All-In at Wembley Stadium a few months ago. Now, Punk has made a well-kept secret and surprise return to WWE at Survivor Series 2023, shocking the wrestling world.
Tony Khan’s comments on CM Punk
Khan, however, refused to comment on Punk’s WWE comeback, citing legal issues. Steve Hermon of BBC asked Khan to speak on Punk after his WWE return, but Khan denied by saying that it was not the right time or place to comment. Here is the full quote, courtesy of Ringside News:
Can’t talk about that, nor do I think it’s the time and the place. I appreciate you asking, I’m very excited about AEW All In at Wembley Stadium. Not to dodge your question, but it’s not something I can legally talk about.

I had the chance to chat to #AEW owner Tony Khan about #AEWAllIn 2024 at Wembley Stadium ahead of tickets going on sale this week.
I’ll post the full interview tomorrow but we covered lots of topics, including Sting, Will Ospreay, Fulham FC and I had to ask about #CMPunk… pic.twitter.com/1k2Jd5k5qh
